Welcome La Habrans

Residents, businesses, and visitors of La Habra, California. My name is Del Lampkin and I am seeking your support in building a stronger La Habra by electing me as your next City Council member. As someone who grew up in a high crime neighborhood of south Los Angeles full of poverty, violence, street gangs, and drug addiction, I am very fortunate to now reside my last few years of adult life here in La Habra. Like anything in life worth getting, it did not come easy but my experiences as you will learn over time is what makes me an idea candidate who knows what its like to go without, make sacrifices, make tough decisions, make decisions in difficult times, and work hard for a better tomorrow without excuses or disingenuous influence.

What do I mean when I say "Together, we can build a stronger La Habra Future?" The message is a reflection of the many residents I have spoken to in La Habra who have expressed concerns about public safety, graffiti, homelessness, and the city budget. As I have attended public events and visited the homes of so many here, know that I hear your concerns, much of them being tied to either not knowing your current city council and government resources available to you or a desire for a new trustworthy steward within city council leadership willing to make the tough decisions that demonstrate the interest of the people and efforts of improving the quality of life for you, our businesses, and those who visit our wonderful community.

As a continued law enforcement professional of 23 years, I currently practice and educate todays police departments on proactive approaches to policing, procedural justice, and community policing. My experience isn't just confined to one agency or public safety profession. In addition to my public service as a Deputy Sheriff for one of the largest Sheriff Departments in the nation, I am also serving privately as a business owner of 8 years, sharing my experience in law enforcement practices, workplace culture, and organizational leadership with tens of thousands of employees in the public sector, special districts, and city governments all across California. It is with these experiences, knowledge, skills, and traits, I say that if we want to build a stronger La Habra, we must build a more cohesive and attractive workplace for our city employees and use this to build stronger relationships with our constituents; the people we serve. When we have resilient city employees, it translates to a higher standard of service provided to those we serve. As I have led by example and contributed to this initiative in other cities, I believe I can do it here as your fellow resident and your next City Councilman in the City of La Habra.

It is my own observations with knowledge through first hand experience of the inner workings of city governments coupled with the concerns expressed by you, my fellow residents that I made the decision to seek office, nothing more. You need to know that the next person you select as your council member has demonstrated an entire life time of being accessible and fighting for good, and collaborating for solutions without motive of political ambition and proven history of doing their part to cultivate a better community for you, me, and our families.

I ask for your support in giving me an opportunity to be your leader who understands public safety, reaching for a higher quality of life, and building businesses and communities from the ground up.
